It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Ann Norris (nee Cramer) born April 6, 1933, of Absecon, announce her passing Monday, October 15, 2018, at the age of 85, surrounded by her family. Barbara will be greeted in heaven by her loving husband, Charles H. Norris (Harvey), her daughter, Kimberly, her parents, John and Lillian Cramer, and her sisters, Jacqueline Pratt and Sandra Latham. Barbara or “Meemom” as she was affectionately known, will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Kristin, Mark, Bryce, Marlee, and Kendall and her nine great grandchildren. Barbara was born and lived in Absecon her entire life. After meeting her husband Charlie in high school, they were married and raised their 5 daughters in the city they both adored.

She played for the Absecon “Squaws” adult softball team, coached the Absecon Blue Devils cheerleaders for numerous years, and also enjoyed participating in a bowling league. She loved and was very proud of her home and spent boundless hours decorating it. When her children were young, she loved spending her days with them on Brigantine beach.

With family being the most important thing to her, once her children were grown she spent some time working at “The Clothesline” shop in Absecon and “Touch of Glass” in Smithville. She also enjoyed watching her Phillies and Eagles whenever they were on TV. With her family always being her utmost passion, she spent countless hours with her daughters and grandchildren.

If Barbara was not babysitting her grandchildren, she was either out shopping with her daughters followed by having lunch at her favorite restaurant or they would all gather at her house to eat, read her favorite magazines, or just talk and tell stories of the past and laugh. Her house was always welcoming to her family and her friends. Viewing for Barbara will be held at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave, Absecon, NJ on Friday, October 19, 2018 between 10AM and 11AM, with service to follow.

Interment will follow at the family plot at Absecon United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Barbara to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
