Barbara C Lutkins, September 20, 1945 — January 17, 2019

MARBLEHEAD- Barbara C. Lutkins, 73, passed away surrounded by her family on January 17, 2019 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Bethesda, Maryland on September 20, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Barbara (Risley) Lutkins. Barbara was raised and educated in New York and attended nursing school at Saint Luke’s Hospital in New York City.

Later in life, she went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lesley University in Cambridge. She was a founding partner of the indexing business Hagerty and Holloway. Additionally, she continued her career in nursing, working for many years at both the former Hospice of the North Shore and the Emergency Department at Salem Hospital, evolving into case management prior to her retirement .

Barbara had been a longtime Topsfield and Ipswich resident before moving, more recently, to Marblehead to be closer to her family. She was a devoted mother, an adored “Bebe” to her grandchildren, a dear friend & sister, and an avid birdwatcher and traveler. She particularly loved trips to Maine, especially Bailey Island.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Aileen and Brendan Sheehan of Marblehead and Gwen Hagerty and Scott Jensen of Quincy; two grandchildren, Abigail and Theodore Sheehan; and her sister, Deborah Lutkins of Southport, North Carolina. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
