Obituary of Barbara Jean Cavallaro Barbara Jean Cavallaro 94 of Krepps St, Morgantown passed away Saturday May 4th 2018 with her family beside her at Sundale Nursing home. A lifelong Morgantown resident she was born Jan 10th 1924 to Ira and Dorothy Price. Barbara “Jean” graduated from Morgantown High School in 1940 where she met and married her High School sweetheart and classmate Sammy Cavallaro following his tour of duty and remained married for 66 years until his passing in 2012.

Shortly after High School Jean joined the War efforts and was employed by the DuPont Chemical plant where she participated in the Heavy Water portion of the Manhattan Project. Jean was an avid golfer and played golf until she was in her 80’s. She was a member of the Pine’s CC women’s golf association and before that a member of the Morgantown Golf & CC.

She was also an avid tennis player. Jean enjoyed sewing, and gardening and being a stay at home mom. She also enjoyed swimming and recreational power walking.

Jean is survived by her children: Richard Cavallaro & wife Nancy of Raleigh, NC. Scott Cavallaro & Christy Cavallaro of Morgantown; three grand children & eight great grand children. In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her brother Joe Price & Carolyn Bost.

Family & friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Monday, 5-7-18 from 5-7 PM and again on Tuesday, 5-8-18 from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Lee Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Sundale Nursing Home for their loving care during Jean’s 2 year stay.
