Barbara June Johnston Ramsey Barbara was born August 20, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas to Forrest and Alta Osborn Johnston. Barbara passed away April 25, 2018 in Clackamas Oregon with her children at her side. Barbara graduated from Oregon City high school in 1950.

She married Jack Kelly Ramsey in 1950. They lived on the Oregon coast until they settled in Corvallis, Oregon in 1958. The family moved back to Oregon City in 1969.

Barbara taught Journalism, photography and elective English at Oregon City High School. She was also a public relations assistant for Portland Development Commission, an associate foundation director for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and an associate advancement director for Janus Youth Program until her retirement, December 31, 1996. She gave generously of her time and talent in volunteering with the American Cancer Society, Gresham Sister Cities Association, Friends of the Milwaukie Center, Inc and Eastern Star.

She was a member of Pioneer Chapter #28 Order of Eastern Star in Oregon City, serving as the Worthy Matron in 2004. Genealogy was an important pursuit for her. She compiled ancestors and descendants and became a member of Daughters of the American Revolution in 2001.

Barbara loved photography and traveled extensively, always with a camera in tow. She loved to get family around the card table. It was common to see up to four generations playing together.

Barbara also enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and participated in many tournaments. She was a league bowler and traveled to local, State & National tournaments. She is survived by Her Daughter, Carol Jean Newman, and (Richard).

Her Son, Steve Forrest Ramsey, (Susan). Her Son, Kelly Brian Ramsey . Her daughter, Beverly Rae Ramsey.

Barbara was proud of her five Grandchildren & five Great Grandchildren. Her daughter, Jacquelyn Sue Schramm, preceded her in death. Our family would like to send a special Thank You to” Providence Milwaukie Elder Place”.

They took care of our Mothers needs this past year with love, compassion, & understanding. We could not have taken this journey without their direction, compassion, and love. A Celebration of Life to honor our mother, Barbara, will be on May 20, 2018 at River Bend Mobile Home Park in The Clubhouse from 1-4.
