Barbara Lee Truman, 62, of LaVale, MD and formerly of Newton, WV, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at her residence. Born March 14, 1957, in Confluence, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Bonnie (Skinner) Wilt. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Roy Wilt and David Loy “Flakey” Wilt.

Barbara was a procurement manager for Jacobs Engineering Group and active with multiple animal rescues. She was blessed with two four legged companions, Hope and Dutchess. She is survived by her husband, Dencil Edgar Truman, Newton, WV; three brothers, Kenneth Ray (Tudy) Wilt, Confluence, Billie Joe Wilt, Rockwood, PA, and Robert Len (Valerie) Wilt, Swanton, MD; three sisters Betty Lue (Clayton) Tressler, Fort Hill, PA, Peggy Sue (Terry) Brown, Grantsville, MD and Ellen Kay Spiker, Lavale.

She didn’t have any children of her own but adopted two children, Drew Evan Truman and Kaleigh Ellen Truman. She also helped raise many more children over the past 44 years including a very special granddaughter, Kayden Nicole Hoover. Per Barbara’s request, no services will be held at this time.

There will be a celebration of life held on June 2, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Grantsville Park preceding the Remembering Flakey Day Picnic. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Allegany Co. Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
