OBITUARY Barbara Lou Simcoe October 20, 1929 – December 17, 2018 Barbara L. Simcoe passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018, at the age of 89. She was a native of Anderson, IN and a long-time resident of Ascension and Livingston Parishes in LA, lastly Maison de Fleur Assisted Living in Denham Springs, LA. Her late husband, Paul, was in the Navy Seabees for the first 20 years of their marriage, which allowed them to live in Texas, California, Guam, Japan and finally put roots down in Louisiana.
They both enjoyed traveling so much that they continued to travel after their retirements. They loved Australia, Germany, Austria, Canada and each of the 50 states. Barbara was a life-long member of Beta Sigma Phi, past National President and life member of Navy Seabee Veterans of American Auxillary.
She retired from Social Security Administration and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Barbara was a member of the United Methodist Church and attended Carpenters Chapel in Prairieville, LA, for 30 years and Walker United Methodist for five years. Barbara is survived by her son, Don Simcoe and wife, Marie; grandchildren, Heath Simcoe and wife, Joy, Jason Simcoe and wife, Emily, Chris Hamilton and wife, Emily, Liz Curtis and husband, Steven; great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Madison, Macie, Parker and Olivia Simcoe, and Lily, Evy Lou and Casler Curtis; sister, Shirley Blaner; son-in-law, Steve Hamilton; and numerous other family members.
Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Paul; daughter, Wanda Hamilton; and parents, Casler and Georgia Hahn. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. , Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, December 21, 2018, from 10:00AM until the time of funeral services at 12:00PM.
Reverand Chris Blanchard will be celebrating the service.
