OBITUARY Barbara T. Lindeman June 13, 1924 – December 19, 2018 NORTH CHATHAM- Barbara Whittemore (Tilden) Lindeman, 94, formerly of West Hartford, CT passed away December 19, 2018 in North Chatham, MA where she has lived for the past four and a half years. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Edward of 62 years, and her parents James Addison and Marion (Whittemore) Tilden, Jr. Barbara (affectionately known as Barbie) was born in Boston and attended Park School, Beaver Country Day and Smith College. During World War II she was a Volunteer for the American Red Cross in Boston.

Barbara and Edward lived in the Hartford area for 62 years where she was involved in many clubs and organizations; The Town and County Club, the Smith College Club, the College Club, the Musical Club of Hartford, the Greater Hartford Easter Seals and several bridge clubs. Music was a big part of her life with her lovely Soprano Voice, she sang in the Unitarian Universalist Church of West Hartford for over 47 years, with Treble Clefs in CT, at her Debut at the Country Club in Brookline, plus various school productions and recently in her room in Chatham. She was an Artist and always had some kind of needle work or craft project at hand until her vision declined.

Barbara and Ed loved to travel and often with their golf clubs when they weren’t playing at Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT where they were members for over 50 years. She is survived by her daughters Lucy and her husband John Carty, Amy and her husband Charles Gouger; granddaughters, Lisa (Carty) and her husband Anthony Dineen, and Stephanie Carty; great-grandchildren, Hope, Charlotte, Dominic, and Parker. Many thanks to a few special people at Broadreach Health Care in N. Chatham, MA and Caleb Hitchcock Health Care in Bloomfield, CT; Nephew Fred Berner of Newington, CT and George.

A memorial celebration of her life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Massachusetts Eye and Ear, 243 Charles Street Boston, MA 02114 or the charity of your choice.
