Barbara’s Obituary Barbara Ann Tomczak went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 30th, 2018. Barbara was being served by Hospice of the Red River Valley at Sanford’s Palliative Care in Fargo, North Dakota. Barbara was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing.

Barbara was born on June 17th, 1941 to Joseph and Mary Glowacki in Buffalo, New York. She was raised in Buffalo where she attended school and received her business college degree. She met and fell in love with Thomas Tomczak.

They were married on September 22, 1962 after Thomas returned from service in the U.S. Marine Corps. After two years in Buffalo they moved to Akron, New York to start their family. Barbara loved books.

This love for books led her to her favorite job of working for a book factory. Her favorite author was Debbie Macomber, whose novels she read time and time again. Barbara continued to work in Akron, New York until the death of her beloved Tom on January 15th, 1998.

Beginning a new chapter in her life Barbara moved to North Dakota, to live with her daughter Donna, and son-in-law Greg and her grandchildren Brittny and Stephan, and two great grandchildren Piper and Buckley. Because of Barbara’s love for reading and books she volunteered at Dakota Elementary School’s Library located on Minot’s Air Force Base. Barbara also volunteered with Med Center One in Bismarck, and the RSVP Center in both Bismarck and Fargo.

Barbara did have Parkinson’s disease, but she did not let it hold her down. She stayed active with specialty classes for people with Parkinson’s disease through the Woods Program exercise class at Edgewood Vista Retirement Home, and also TNT Rock Steady Kick Boxing. Barbara was always the loving grandmother helping Brittny with Girl Scouts, and following Stephan’s Football and Hockey career throughout his school years.

Barbara never missed any activity that her grandchildren were part of throughout the years. Barbara’s greatest joy came from being active with her two great grandchildren. On a daily basis the phrase “LOVE YOU NANA!

” could be heard during playtime. Barbara is survived by her daughter Donna, Son-in-law Greg and her two grandchildren Brittny and Stephan, who have cared for her in their home for the past 17years, her two great grandchildren Piper and Buckley, and daughter Michelle who lives in Texas. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her daughter Christine, parents Joseph and Mary (Glowacki) and sister and brother-in-law Patricia (Richard) Graczyk.

A visitation and prayer service will be held at 12:00 pm on Sunday, December 9th, 2018 followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center. On January 15th Barbara will be buried at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Cheektowaga, NY. Barbara will be reunited with, and laid to rest next to her beloved Tom who passed away on January 15th 1998, Buffalo, New York.
