Barney’s Obituary Funeral service for Barney Wayne Fortuna, 65, of Mt. Iron, will be 11am Monday, May 13, 2019 at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert with Pastor Jeffrey Jones officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to LSS Westgate in Mt. Iron or the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Virginia.

Barney died Monday, May 6, 2019 at LSS Westgate residence in Mt. Iron, MN. He was born August 13, 1953 in Virginia, MN to Ignatz and Bertha (Timonen) Fortuna.

Barney attended and worked at East Range DAC for many years. He enjoyed gardening, watching Lawrence Welk and listening to polka music. He also liked going for walks and watching game shows.

Barney was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Virginia. Survivors include his mother, Bertha Fortuna of Virginia; several cousins, including Patsy Cacren of California; and all of his caregivers and friends at LSS Westgate in Mt. Iron.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ignatz.
