OBITUARY Ms. Beatrice A Camby May 5, 1925 – November 9, 2018 Beatrice Arlene Slawter Camby, 93, of Appomattox, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018, at her residence. She was the wife of the late James Vernon Camby. Born May 4, 1925, in Pilot Mountain, NC, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Rochester Slawter and the late Pearl Bennett Slawter.

Beatrice was a retired meat wrapper for Giant Food Market and a member of Forcey Memorial Church in Silver Spring, MD and she also attended Thomas Terrace Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by one grandson, Phillip Scaggs; one sister, Mozelle Walker; and one brother, Ray Slawter. Beatrice is survived by her children, Jim V. Camby, Jr. of Berryville, Sandy C. Burchett of Appomattox, Judi C. Simpson (Phil) of Clarksville, MD, Connie C. Barrier (Mike) of Lexington, SC and Kenneth Camby of Front Royal; nine grandchildren, Shannon, Autumn, Jessica, Jake, Kayla, Josh, Katie and Hannah; nineteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2108, at Journey Ministries in Appomattox with Chaplain Jim V. Camby, Jr. and Pastor S.L. Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Appomattox. Memorial contributions may be made to Journey Ministries Night to Shine.
