Beatrice Halverson, 100, of Wahpeton, ND passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Living Center, Wahpeton. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 AM at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, ND, with Rev. Harvey Henderson officiating.

Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Lidgerwood, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. Beatrice M. Halverson was born July 24, 1917, in Dexter Township, the daughter of George and Dorothea (Wodrich) Trinka.

She attended a one room rural school for eight years and one year of high school in Lidgerwood, ND, later getting her high school diploma through the GED program. On December 24, 1935, she married Ransom Mallinger, the son of George and Thresa (Wohlwend), also of Dexter Township. They farmed on the Mallinger homestead until 1945 when they purchased the farmstead of her grandparents, the Fred Wodrich’s, always staying in Dexter Township.

They had three children: Dorothy Mae, Marjorie Ann, and George Ransom. Ransom Mallinger died in 1953. In 1958 Beatrice married Harold Halverson of Fargo.

They farmed until his death in 1963. She continued to live on the farm with her son until his marriage when she moved to Wyndmere. She was the reporter for the Wyndmere Missile for four years when she retired.

She served as municipal judge for several years. While serving as judge, she held two state offices in the Municipal Judges Association, representative for the third judicial district for three years and state judicial council at the time of the court reform in the state. She did volunteer work for Widowed Persons Service and Hospice.

She was a member of the Wyndmere Lutheran Church. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Ann (Karl) Hook; son, George (Kathy) Mallinger; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ransom; second husband, Harold; parents, George and Dorothea; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Duane; granddaughter, Renee Marable and grandson, David Mathiesen; and brother, Harley Trinka.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Wyndmere Lutheran Church.
