Obituary of Benita Gonzalez Benita Gonzalez, 86, of Paterson, passed away in her home on September 12, 2018. She was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on March 21, 1932 to the late Margaro and Justina (Rodriguez) Ortiz. Benita was a loving homemaker for her family and also worked at Julius Schmidt factory in Woodland Park for many years before retiring.

She was the cherished mother of Nora Torres and Joe Gonzalez and his wife Maryann. She was the treasured grandmother of Evette Reyna and Elizabeth Torres Rodriguez, the great grandmother of Cassie, Maya and Samantha Reyna and Stella, Matthew, Adam and Amelie Rodriguez and the great-great grandmother of Sebastian Rivera. Benita is also survived by her brother David Ortiz, her sister Nelly Rivera and many nieces and nephews.
