Wagner, passed away peacefully in the company of his loving family on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, just hours shy of his 90th birthday. After a short battle with cancer, Ben was called to be with his Lord and Savior, whom he served well. Funeral service: 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 4513 Williams Road, Benbrook 76116.

Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth 76134. Visitation: 2-6:00 p.m., Monday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, with family presence 5-6:00 p.m. Ben was born in the Indian Gap community of Hamilton County, Texas on November 21, 1928. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Priddy, Texas and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville, Texas.

The young family moved to a farm in the Pottsville area in 1932 where he grew up farming and playing football and basketball in high school and then baseball in The Cowhouse League. Ben worked on the family farm until moving to Fort Worth in 1947 where he worked in the Aerospace field for over 50 years combined at Consolidated/Convair/General Dynamics, then Bell until his retirement. Ben served his church, family and community with Christian passion and discipline his entire life.

He married his longtime sweetheart, Mildred Pietzsch in 1949 and the two raised their three children steadfast in the Christian faith. Ben and Mildred were charter members of Redeemer Lutheran Church Fort Worth, where they remained active members until failing health made it difficult to serve. Ben enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling to Colorado with family and friends.

He also enjoyed continuing to help out on the farm whenever possible. Ben will be remembered for his quiet, confident leadership and dedication to those he loved and served. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Frieda Wagner, and his sister, Mabeline Turnbow.

Pallbearers will be Ben’s grandsons and nephew, Chad Wagner, Wayne Pietzsch, Nathan Gonzalez, Tyler Wagner, Matthew Wagner and Kevin Gonzalez. Survivors: Loving wife of 69 years, Mildred; children, Robert Wagner and wife, Linda of Burleson, Cathy Gonzalez and husband, Jerry of Benbrook, and Paul Wagner of Fort Worth; brothers, Leamon Wagner and wife, Lydia of Hamilton, Darman Wagner and wife, Jane of Hamilton; many grandkids, great grandkids, extended family and friends.
