Benny Ray Fort, 81, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2019. He was born April 9, 1937, to William Emmet and Elzie Mouser Fort in Stamps, Arkansas. , where he was reared, received his early education, then graduating from Magnolia High School after moving there in the 9th grade.

Early in his adult life, Benny enjoyed a career in printing, then later transitioning to the insurance industry, and moving to Pine Bluff in 1972. Away from work, he had a passion for fishing and bird watching. Benny was an active member of the Watson Chapel Baptist Church, attending there 36 years, and becoming a church employee upon retiring.

Many friends and his church family will miss his great smile and willingness to help. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Ann Fort, whom he married January 24, 1970, in Magnolia; son Jonathan David Fort of Little Rock; son Jeff Fort (Ingrid) of Shreveport, LA; son Tracy Lane Fort (Denise) of Benton, LA; son Steven Ray Fort (Rena) of Benton, LA; brothers William Otis Fort of Ozark and Terry Fort of Sherwood; six grandchildren, Christopher Fort, Blake Fort, Brook Fort, Angel Fort, Tyler Fort and Tiffany Fort; 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 29th, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., at Watson Chapel Baptist Church, 5514 Pinnacle Lane, Pine Bluff, AR with Steve Monk officiating.
