Bernard (Bernie) A. Choquette, age 86, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on May 14, 2019. Born October 11, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. Bernard served in the US Army before moving his young family to the suburbs.

His wife of 64 years, and his sons, Kenneth and Kurtis are extremely grateful and cherish the hard work dad put into the lives he provided for them. He and his wife made a difficult move to Chicago and built from the ground up, a stable and loving home in Lake in the Hills, IL. His sons have enjoyed the suburban lifestyle of fishing, riding dirt bike trails, and making lifelong friends.

Two-time winners of brand-new cars, Barbara and Bernie enjoyed a retirement that include traveling in an RV before settling in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1989. During his golden years in Las Vegas, Bernie kept a meticulous secluded backyard of night-blooming jasmine, fig, and palm trees and a full-sized pool that the family and visitors often enjoyed while grilling BBQ ribs. Bern’s love for black Labrador dogs included Lady girl, Ebony, Frisky, Duchess, Baron, and frisbee champion Kaiser.

A devoted husband to his beloved Barbara, Bernard enjoyed chauffeuring her to dinner and BINGO several times a week, while he tinkered in Keno and horse races in the sports book. Bernie spent time with his grandchildren and enjoyed a challenge in conversation for recreation and entertainment, often for his own! He was a voice of wisdom in times of need, lending an ear to listen when we needed to talk, and a real good Mr. Fixi-it.

Be it advice, an ear, car repairs, from simple thrift store selections to making major decisions, he was always there for us. He never let us down. Bernard is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Melba Choquette, and his beloved wife of 64 years, Barbara Ann Choquette.

Bernie is survived by his two sons, Kenneth of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, and Kurtis, daughter-in-law Jennifer, three grandsons David (25), Joshua (15), and Joey (12) of Las Vegas, Nevada, his two sisters Lorette (Tootie) Zales and Darlene DeHainaut, and extended family of northern Illinois. Bernard will be dearly missed. We thank the Lord for the extraordinary blessing he has been in all of our lives.

May he rest in Christ until we meet again. The funeral service will be held on Monday June 3, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Following the service in the chapel, we will proceed to the gravesite for final committal.
