Bernard Alvin “Al” Jameson of Clearwater, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 in Morton-Plant Hospital. He was 84. Al was born January 4, 1935 in Waldorf, Maryland; the beloved son of the late Bernard C and Doris Mae Jameson.

Al was a graduate of Oxon Hill High School, Oxon HIll, Maryland. Early in his career, he worked as a trolley car driver on the trolley system in Washington, D.C. Al ultimately retired after 24 years as a firefighter in Washington, D.C. After his retirement, in the mid 1980’s, he moved to Seminole, Florida and worked 10+ years for West Pharmaceutical Services of Florida – St. Petersburg. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force serving in the Korean War and was a member of the Korean War Veteran’s Association – Sunshine State Chapter.

Al was an active member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (I.A.F.F. ) and American Legion Post #273 – Madeira Beach, Florida. He also belonged to the ELKS Lodge #2421 B.P.O.E.

of Waldorf, Maryland and Lodge #2519 B.P.O.E. of Seminole, Florida. In addition to spending time with family, Al was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to play golf.

Al and his beloved wife, Ellen, also loved traveling especially to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the balloon festival and Niagara Falls. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a stepson, William “Bill” Lowe; a step granddaughter, Crystal Read and two stepbrothers; Clarence “Sonny” Gooding, Jr and Donald “Donny” Gooding. Al is survived by his loving wife Ellen Lydia Jameson; a daughter, Dawn Jameson and a son Lance Jameson.

He is also survived by two stepdaughters; Debra (Gary) Read, Darlene Lowe and a stepson, Malcolm “Mac” (SueEllen) Lowe. Al leaves behind his daughter in law, Teresa Lowe; two grandsons; Jody (Joe) Jameson and Thomas Alvin “TJ” Jameson; seven step grandchildren; Travis (Andrea) Read, William “Nick” Lowe, Chris (Stephanie) Lowe, Calvin (Caitlyn) Lowe, Amber Robertson, Sam Lowe and Alicia Lowe. Al is also the loving great grandfather of seven great grandchildren; Theodore Read, Oliver Read, Jordyne Lowe, William Lowe, Jr, Aiden Lowe, Tyler Lugo and Ethan Lugo.

Visitation will be 2pm – 4pm followed by funeral services at 4pm Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home 5750 49th St N, St Petersburg, Florida 33709. He will be laid to rest in the Tranquil Waters Cremation Garden in Memorial Park Cemetery.
