BEEVILLE – Bernard E. Henke, 81, of Beeville, died on Dec. 28, 2018. He was born on Mar.

29, 1937 in Osborne, Kansas to Lawrence and Loretta (Reidel) Henke. He married Merrie Michele Thornton on May 9, 1992 in Beeville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired from the U.S. Postal Service and active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosemary St. Clair and Janice Thomas and one brother, John Henke. He is survived by his wife, Merrie Michele Henke of Beeville; one daughter, Judy (David) Bowen of Beeville; one son, Jeremy Henke of Houston, Tx; step-daughter, Dawn (Hector) Navarro; three sisters, Leona (Al) Clavete of Olathe, KS, Dorothy Heatwole of Sedalia, MO and Betty Stokes of Mid West City, OK; granddaughter, Jennifer Bowen and step-granddaughter, Daniella Cloud. He is also survived by a host of relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, Jan. 4, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Pat Traxler officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at a later date at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
