Bernard F. “Smitty” Smith, 69, of Richmond, OH, passed away January 20, 2019 at his home. He was born March 21, 1949 in Frostburg, MD, a son of the late Bernard and Andrea (Bendle) Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Smith and sister-in-law, Tina Smith.

Smitty served his country in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 24 Frostburg and the VFW Post 6025 in Maryland. He retired from Weirton Arcelor Mittal and was a 1968 graduate of Beall High School.

Smitty was Methodist by faith. He was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret “Maggie” (Carder) Smith; son, Bernard (Betheny) Smith; grandson, Kaden Smith; granddaughter, Kayla Bower; siblings, Barb (Jack) Werner, Thomas L. Smith, and Kay (Rocky) Phillips; many nieces and nephews; close friend/brother, Rick Lemaster; and grand dog, Cash.

Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Rd. , Wintersville on Friday from 3 PM until time of funeral services at 6 PM with Pastor Mike Mantos officiating. Send condolences online at www.
