Bernice Mae Moyer Roberts , May 03, 1930 — January 05, 2019

Bernice Mae Roberts, 88, of Orwigsburg, passed away Saturday, January 5th, at Pine Brook Personal Care Facility. Born in Pine Grove, on May 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Martha A. (Bender) and Clifford C. Moyer. She was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, class of 1947 and last worked for local textile factories including Bayshore’s Knitting Mill, Schuylkill Haven.

She was the widow of Elmer D. Roberts, who passed away in 2003. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven and the bi-weekly SOUL social lunch group at the church. Bernice was a volunteer worker in the Kitchen at the First United Church of Christ during the Strawberry and Peach Festivals era.

She was active in administering Youth Bowling Leagues at Gateway Bowling Lanes with her husband for many years. She loved cooking, knitting, sewing, counter-cross stitch and reading. She also loved to skate at Willow Lake Roller Rink to big band music.

She loved her family and was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter Linette McGow, who passed away in 2006. Bernice is survived by a daughter Leanna Bensinger wife of Floyd Bensinger Fuquay-Varina, NC; son Todd Roberts companion of Penny Shade, Schuylkill Haven; grandchildren Greg Bensinger of Tigard OR, Bradley Bensinger of Jacobus PA, Ashley Roufos-Abbey of Harrisburg, PA, Tyler Roberts of Clinton Township, MI and Alexander McGow, III of Clinton Township, MI; great grandchildren Nolan and Conor Bensinger of Tigard, Or.

, Luca Bensinger of Jacobus, Pa. and Lucy Roufos-Abbey of Harrisburg. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven, on Friday, January 11 at 11 am with Rev.

Shawn VanDyke officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held prior from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the First United Church of Christ, 110 Route 61 South, Schuylkill Haven PA 17972.

Interment will be at Union Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
