Obituary for Berniece E. Slack Berniece Slack, 94 Kearney resident Berniece Slack, 94 of Kearney, formerly of Gibbon, died Friday, December 7, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Gibbon Baptist Church.

The Rev. Jon Wymer will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon.

Visitation is 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, December 16th at the Gibbon Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to the Gibbon Baptist Church or Mt. Carmel Home.

Berniece Elmira Slack was born July 10, 1924 in rural Shelton, Nebraska to Chester and Elsie (Lowell) Smith. She was raised in the Gibbon area and was a graduate of Gibbon High School. On June 5, 1944, Berniece married Donald L. Slack in Smith Center, KS.

The couple made their home in Gibbon where Berniece was a long-time employee of the Turkey Plant. Berniece later worked at Eaton Corporation until her retirement. She was a member of the Gibbon Baptist Church.

Berniece enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends and family. She had a lifelong love for music. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lynn (Janet) Slack of Gibbon, Ramona Kay (Dan) Webster of Gibbon, Roger (Debra) Slack of Gibbon and Beverly (Chris) Tolbert of Oklahoma City, OK; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren; sister, Doretha Clevenger of Gibbon; sisters-in-law, Roberta Slack of Grand Island and Betty Slack of Logan, UT; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Berniece was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Slack; brothers, Jerry (Irene) Smith and Elton (Anita) Smith; sisters, Ruth (Fred) Humiston, Sylvia (Fred) Pember, Thelma (Vernon) Weeks, Mary (Everett) (Charlie) Jenson Boyd, Bernadean (Max) Wilkie; as well as, Bob Clevenger, Louise (Myron) Warner, Margorie (Eldon) Mays and Neil C.
