OBITUARY Bertha J. Payne October 15, 1932 – September 19, 2018 Bertha Payne Jones, 85, of Hanahan, SC, wife of Paul Payne passed away Wednesday September 19, 2018 at home. Mrs. Payne was born October 15, 1932 in Kershaw, SC. The daughter of Furman Kershaw and Mamie Boone Jones.

Mrs. Payne retired after 28 years at MUSC Dental College. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Hurley Furr III, daughters Gail Payne Flagler (Steve) of West Ashley and Paula Payne Lanier (Andre) of Orange Park, FL, a brother, William C. Jones of Camden, SC, sisters Beulah Sharp of North Charleston and Irma Jackson of Hanahan, and daughter-in-law Tonia Windham.

She had eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by sisters, Lillian Ballentine, Juanita Petit, and Willeen Jones and grandson, Mark Bonnette.
