Bette Lou Henry, 90, of Hickory Park Rd. , Cortland, passed away on July 11, 2018 while under the care of Hospice and her loving family. She was born November 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Thomas and Doris Kelly Beerman.

Bette Lou devoted her life to raising her seven children in East Homer. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Truxton, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters. Bette Lou enjoyed playing golf, she was a member Knickerbocker Country Club in Cincinnatus, playing in the Seven Valley Golf League for many years.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered her time at the Cortland Tourism Booth. Surviving is her husband of 67 years, Dick Henry; her seven children, Michael (Diane) Henry of Cortland; Michelle (Joe) Hoffmann of Burlington Flats; David Henry of LaFayette; Mary Ann (Peter) DeCastro of Sterling, VA; Chris Henry of Tully; Lisa Austin of Cortland and Beth Henry of York, PA. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her sister-in-law, Sharon Beerman and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Beerman and Andrew ‘Tony’ Beerman and a sister, Dorothy Van Wyk. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Church, 3656 Route 13, Truxton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be co-celebrated by Rev. Paul Alciati and Rev.

Joseph Phillips. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Truxton. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Henry’s name may be directed to St. Patrick’s Church, 3656 Route 13, Truxton, NY 13158 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
