She was born on October 19, 1935 to Leslie W. & Ernabell Juergens Luhn Sr. in Victoria, TX. She married Benedict H. Janak on April 13, 1973 in Hallettsville.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville. Betty is survived by: husband Ben; 2 brothers, Leslie Luhn Sr. & Aldus Luhn; sister Connie; 4 grandchildren, Laura Roberson & husband Timothy, Michael Baucom & wife Danielle, Adam Baucom & wife Rachel, and Robert Baucom; 6 great grandchildren, Tyler Roberson, Emma Baucom, Brayden Baucom, Heath Baucom, Sadie Baucom and Austin Baucom; and numerous nieces & nephews. Betty was preceded in death by: 1st husband David Volkmer; 2 sons, Tommy Gene and Lawrence Joe Volkmer; her parents; sister Waldine Powitzky; and brother Kirby Luhn.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Friday, March 8, 2019, at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Hallettsville. Visitation: starting at 5 pm, Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home. Officiant: Pastor Jared Stillion.

Memorials: Solid Rock Christian Center for Learning or donor’s choice. Burial: Hallettsville City Cemetery.
