Betty J. Cober, age 91, of Stone Mountain, Georgia and formerly of Shelby, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Emory Decatur Hospital in Georgia. Betty was born in Shelby on August 15, 1927, the youngest of eleven children. She married Max Cober October 7, 1950.

They spent most of their life in Shelby. In 1991 they moved to Stone Mountain to be close to family. They enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow up.

She and Max made several trips to Hawaii to visit their son and his family. Max passed away January 2000. Betty continued to live in her home and enjoyed calling and sending cards to family and friends even up to her last days.

She loved watching baseball, cheering on the Atlanta Braves. She was an active member of Stone Mountain United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Wayne and daughter-in-law Iris of Kihei, Hawaii; daughter, Linda and son-in-law Ron of Stone Mountain; four grandchildren, Shannon Hall, Robin Huff (Greg), Brian Faith (Tiffany), and Matthew Cober (Kyra), and thirteen great-grandchildren that she could proudly call by name.

Graveside services for Betty will be held in July at Mennonite Cemetery east of Shelby. A date and time will be announced later.
