Betty E. “Boo Boo” Allen November 16, 1943 – January 5, 2019 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing…” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 On Saturday evening, January 5, 2019, our hearts were saddened by the loss of our cherished and beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, Ms. Betty E. Allen of 831 E. Ellerslie Avenue, Colonial Heights Health Care Center. She was born on November 16, 1943 to the late Herman A. (Farmville, VA) and Mary Lee Swann (Petersburg, VA).

She was preceded in death by her son, William Michael Swann; daughter, Pamela Burch; grandson, Leon Lyle and her sister, Delois Banks, She was a product of Chesterfield County Public Schools, and a retiree from Fort Lee Quarter Master, Fort Lee, VA. Born: November 16, 1943 Death: January 5, 2019 Betty affectionately known as “Boo Boo”, leaves to cherish her precious memories: three daughters, Phyllis Swann of Colonial Heights, VA, Janice Lyle of Petersburg, VA, and Toni Swann Freeman of Chesterfield County, VA; sixteen grandchildren, Stephanie Rollins of Hopewell, VA, Orlando Swann of Petersburg, VA, Michael Rollins of Hopewell, VA, Deborah Lyle of Petersburg, VA, Steven Lyle of Georgia, Tywarren Lyle (Nepatinnie) and Travis Swann both of Florida, Jerome Wells, Deonte Wells, (Tiquila), Philip Swann (Janeshia), and Jolanda Swann all of Petersburg, VA, Shawnte Wells of Alabama, Jazmin Swann Lewis (Karl), William Freeman III, Niyah Freeman all of Chesterfield, VA, and Patricia Rollins (Lamont) of Hopewell, VA; foster mother, Madeline Dodson of Chesterfield, VA; seven siblings, Mary Ann Allen, Irma Swann Campbell (Michael), Margaret Banks, Robert Banks (PW), Ronnie Banks, Johnny Banks (Sharon), and Bobby Banks all of Petersburg, VA; devoted niece, Rev. Dr. Angel Allen; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends among them: Ms. Barbara Rollins of Hopewell, VA, The “Red Hat Ladies” of Colonial Heights Health Care Center, Mrs. Hendricks, Mrs. Keifer, Mrs. Hersh, Mrs. Michael, Mrs. Mayton, Mrs. Mitchell, and Mrs. Taylor (Lydia and Terri).

The family would like to send their special thanks to the staff of the Colonial Heights Health Care Center and Southside Regional Medical Center. Betty was an integral part of her family circle and will be truly missed. Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 11, 2019 in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev.

Dr. Angel Allen, eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble 10:00 A.M. the day of the service and will also receive friends at 209 Archer Avenue, Apt.
