Obituary for Betty J. Etzelmiller Betty Etzelmiller, 89, of Minden, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Bethany Home in Minden. The family will be holding services at a later date. There will be no visitation as the family is honoring her wishes to be cremated.

Memorials in Betty’s honor are suggested to Bethany Home and Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Betty was born December 27, 1928 in Lincoln to Orval and Merle (Runyan) Layton.

On May 28, 1948, she married J.E. “Jack” Etzelmiller. They made their home in Minden where they owned and operated Minden Paint and Sporting Goods until they retired in 1992. She was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden and spent decades singing in the church choir.

Betty was also a member of P.E.O. chapter N. She was known for her delicate roll-out Christmas cookies and there were many people that looked forward to them every year. Survivors include her granddaughter, Courtney Etzelmiller and husband George Moore; great-granddaughter, Riley Blake and husband John; brother-in-law, Phil Etzelmiller and wife Eleanor; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Robert Etzelmiller, daughter Nancy Christiansen, grandson Tim Christiansen, and brother Dean Layton.
