Betty (Lawver) Caranci, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Painesville, on October 29, 2018. Born on January 17, 1924, Betty lived her entire life in Northeastern Ohio. She was a devoted wife and a warm, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who could make any child feel safe, happy, special and loved.

Although she was a passionate sports fan who rarely missed a Browns or Indians game on TV, her world revolved around her home and family. At its core was her 55-year marriage to U.S. Army Command Sgt. Major (CSM) Philip A. Caranci, who passed away in August 2016.

The two had a long, wonderful life together, filled with big holiday gatherings, winters in Florida, nights at Painesville Speedway, and rousing card games of every kind. “Phil and Betty,” inseparable in life, are joined once again in death. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Gertrude, son Robert Crawford and daughter-in-law Paula Crawford.

Survivors include her son Dr. Larry (Mary Ann) Crawford of Colfax, NC; daughters Shari (Earl) McNeely of Eastlake, OH, and Brenda (George) White of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Brian Crawford, Lindsey Griffin, Robert Griffin, Allison White and David White; and six great grandchildren. Extended family members and many friends are scattered throughout the area. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Betty’s life on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave, Painesville, OH.

Calling hours will be from 10 AM to 11 AM, with a short funeral service starting at 11 AM. Burial at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville will follow immediately.
