Betty Jane (Luzader) Tippens, 96, of Belpre, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 2, 2019. She was born May 4, 1922 at home in Belpre, OH to Bruce and Minnie (Farson) Luzader. Betty graduated from Belpre High School in 1940 and received the award for most musical.

November 23, 1940, she married Dean Lewis Tippens and they were happily married for 78 years. . Dean preceded her in death February 10, 2019.

She was a lifetime member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Belpre where she played the organ and piano in her earlier years. Betty was an accomplished seamstress, making most of her daughter’s clothes and did volunteer sewing at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital where her Aunt Cora Luzader was the hospital’s first graduating nurse. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing her plants with others.

She and Dean turned their yard into a showplace of beauty, especially in the spring with azaleas, rhododendrons, dogwood trees, spring flowers and in summer, daylilies. Betty was a homemaker, excellent cook, baker and mother of five children. She said her greatest enjoyment in life, was being a wife and rearing her five children.

Betty is survived by her children, Larry (Bonnie) Tippens of TX, Sue (John) Robinson, Beth Welcome all of Delaware, OH, Joe (Trish) Tippens of MI and Nancy (Eddie) Miller of TX; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Luzader of TN; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Pierce Luzader, sister, Mildred Stancl, son-in-law, Jim Welcome, daughter-in-law, Phyllis Tippens and granddaughter, Holly Ann Tippens. A graveside service and burial will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 4pm in Rockland Cemetery, Belpre with Pastor David Hubbard.

A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 11am during the worship service at St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Belpre with Pastor David Hubbard officiating.
