OBITUARY Betty Lee Ducker McGrath Paumier September 9, 1930 – December 9, 2018 Betty Lee Ducker McGrath Paumier 88, of Charlotte, NC passed away on December 9, 2018. Born September 9, 1930 to the late Mannielee Rebecca and Andrew Leslie Ducker. Betty was predeceased by her husband James Paumier, brothers – Andrew Leslie Ducker, Jr., Edward Sease Ducker, William Greer Ducker and one grandchild Marc Thompson.

She is survived by her loving children – Ralph Lane McGrath, Jr. (wife Lynne), Lee Ducker McGrath (wife Lurinda), Terri McGrath Stewart, Greg Paumier (wife Mary Terese) and Carole Paumier Thompson, grandchildren – Taylor McGrath Hoffmann, Cameron McGrath, John Stewart, Katherine Stewart, Scott Thompson, and Lyndsay Thompson Clair, and great-grandchildren – Riley Jane Stewart, Caiden Clair and Cameryn Clair, all of whom were the apple of her eye. A lifetime resident of Charlotte, Betty attended Charlotte schools, graduating from Central High School in 1948 and Carolina Business College, Charlotte in 1949. During her lifetime Betty was employed at Wachovia Bank & Trust Company, Myers Park Methodist Church (Church Secretary and Minister’s Secretary), Assistant Vice President and Office Manager of Mechanical Equipment Company.

She worked in public relations at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, was Associate Sales Manager of The Business Journal, taught ballroom dance classes at the YWCA, and taught line dancing at the Shepard Center. Betty was a board member of First Friday of the Month Club for Working Actors of Charlotte, and performed in various television commercials, movies, and print. As a “Golden Bell”, Betty entertained at nursing and retirement homes.

She was also a “Polka Dot” line dancer and won three medals – one gold, one silver and one bronze – at the Senior Games in local and state competition. She was the Social Chairman at two of her previous residences. Betty was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine.

As a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church, Betty was active in the church since she was 5 years old, singing in the Adult Choir for 10 years, Church in the Round Choir, Counselor for the senior high children, president of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and served on the Evangelism Committee. Betty was a Stephen Minister Leader and coordinated the Stephen Ministry Network in our area of NC and SC. She was also the On-Call Chaplain at Carolinas Medical Center and an Airport Chaplain at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

A true force of nature, Betty was always willing to help others in need. Her guiding light and loving presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Myers Park United Methodist Church with the Revered William Roth officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in Jubilee Hall. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte, 7845 Little Ave.
