Betty Lou LaClair age 89, of Ashley, MI, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Ashley Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI.

Betty was born in St. Louis, Michigan on August 9, 1929, the daughter of Frank and Olive (Sands) Carter. She graduated from Breckenridge High School. Betty married Donald J. LaClair on September 28, 1946; Don passed away in 2000.

Betty worked many years at Mitchell-Bentley Corp. in Owosso. She also spent time as a waitress in Marion Springs and Breckenridge.

Betty enjoyed golf, reading, and fishing. Betty and Don retired to Drummond Island in 1986 and they spent 28 happy years together there. She is survived by children: Barbara Conklin of Bannister; MI, Bill and Brenda LaClair of Elsie, MI; Darrell LaClair of Bannister, MI; Donna and Barry Hamilton of Drummond Island, MI; Denise Goad of Bath, MI; and Darlene Wynn of Drummond Island, MI.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 6272 State Street, Saginaw, MI 48603.
