Betty’s Obituary Betty, of Livonia, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away unexpectedly late Monday evening, March 4th, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi. She was 87, and in declining health for about one month. Betty was born April 8, 1931, in Detroit, the daughter of Dolphos and Anne (Bonds) Kirk.

She married Robert H. “Bob” Detter on March 18, 1950, in Detroit. Sadly, Bob passed away on October 30, 2018. Surviving are devoted children, Gerald (Kathryn) Detter and Diane (the Hon.

James) Brady; her sister, Lucie (Pete) Trickey; loving grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Detter, Andrea (Curt) Anderson, Mary (Todd) Beam, Jim Brady and Chelsea (Scott) Snell; and great-grandchildren, Lilah, Davison, Cale, Sadie, Brooks, Riley and T.J. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by siblings, Eleanor (the late Allen) Murray, Marilyn (the late Lester) Williams, and James (Debbie) Kirk. The Detters will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday, March 10th, from 1-7 pm. Betty’s funeral ceremony is scheduled for Monday morning, March 11th, at 10:30 am (in state at 9:30 am) at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, 30900 Six Mile Road (between Merriman and Middlebelt Roads), Livonia.

Interment will follow at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to either the American Diabetes Association or the Wounded Warrior Project. Kindly keep Betty and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
