Obituary for Betty Ruth Long Betty Ruth Long, age 86 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 in Calhoun Health Care. Betty was born on May 8, 1932 in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late John Timmon Parris and Viola Jackson Parris. In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by: her husband, R.C. Long; brother, Charles Parris; and two sisters, Dorothy Parris and Lois Jean Anthony.

Betty was a member of Victory Temple Church, and attended East Calhoun Church, Resaca Church of God, and Riverview Drive Baptist Church. Prior to her retirement, Betty was the owner and operator of Betty Long Used Cars. Betty is survived by: her three daughters, Jean Cline and her husband, Ben of Calhoun, Hilda Fowler of Calhoun, and Brenda Gallman of Calhoun; son, Gary Long and his fiancé, Teskola Swim of Adairsville; two sisters, Alene Powel of Adairsville, and Regina Stephens of Bridgeport, Alabama; sister-in-law, Mary Ralston of Marietta; twelve grandchildren, Benjamin Mashon Cline, Chad Cline, Chris Nesbitt, Kelly Nesbitt, Angel Dawson, Tania Davis, Grant Nesbitt, Jamie Long, Brooke Long, Crystal Long, Cody Long, and Tiffany Couch; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, October 25th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Nesbitt officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park with grandsons serving as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
