Obituary for Bettye Jayne Palmer FORT WORTH – Bettye Jayne Palmer, 89, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018. Some things in your life stay constant. For us, it has been our mom.

She’s always been supportive, encouraging, loving and generous. While surrounded by her loving family, the time came today for us to let her go to her reward in heaven. What a wonderful release for her to leave her frail body and join family and friends in heaven!

We are sad, but rejoicing for her. Bettye was born Oct. 27, 1928, in Evansville, Illinois.

In 1933, Bettye’s family moved to Fort Worth when her father accepted a job with Panther Oil and Grease Company. Bettye graduated from Paschal High School 1946 and went to work for Stanlin Oil Company as a Service Representative and then moved to Southwestern Bell as a Service Representative, where she met her future husband, Wayne Palmer. Bettye and Wayne married in Fort Worth on Nov.

15, 1952, and began their family with two children, daughter, Lynda Lee, and son, Kelly. Bettye was a homemaker and wonderful and loving wife and supporting mother. The Palmer family moved every two to three years for Wayne’s advancements through the ranks with Southwesten Bell.

In 1968, the family permanently moved back to Fort Worth when Wayne accepted a position as CEO of Lubrications Engineers, Inc. Bettye devoted a lifetime of service to others and volunteered and supported many non-profit organizations. She was a devout Christian and lifelong member of Westcliff United Methodist Church. Bettye was an avid gardener and loved cultivating her flowers and plants in her greenhouse and around the house.

She also had a passion for dancing and studied under dance instructor Bruce Lee for many years. Bettye was a lifelong member of Rotary Ann’s (Women of Rotary), The Fort Worth Club and Colonial Country Club (where she loved to play tennis and golf). Bettye was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wayne Palmer; and her parents, Elizabeth Grace Hitt and Jesse Jay Hitt.

Survivors: Daughter, Lynda Lee Riley and husband, Wayne Edward Riley; son, Kelly Palmer and wife, Mary Baily Palmer; grandchildren, Heather Ann McCarty, Morgan Elizabeth Naschke, Jesse Logan Palmer and Jacob Grant Palmer; and great-grandchild, David Arthur Michael Naschke, III.
