Obituary for Beverly Rose Long Beverly Rose Long, age 75, of DeMotte, formerly of San Pierre, Wheatfield, and Crown Point, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois. She was born July 14, 1942 in Kankakee, Illinois to Irvin and Hazel (Myers) Schweigert, both deceased. On November 23, 1963, Beverly married Arthur Edward Long, in Momence, Illinois.

He preceded her in death on October 24, 2010. Beverly attended Momence High School, Class of 1960. She graduated from Illinois State with a degree in Physical Education.

She also earned her Masters degree from Indiana University Northwest. Beverly was a physical education teacher, retiring at the age of 62. She taught at Wheatfield, Lacrosse, DeMotte, Boone Grove and finally at Porter Lakes Elementary school.

Beverly was a member at Immanuel United Reformed Church and a member of the Indiana Teachers Association. She was passionate about teaching & caring for her students. She loved to read, garden, attend flea markets and most of all spending time with her family.

Beverly is survived by her son, Dave (Brenda) Long of DeMotte, IN; 3 grandchildren: Erin Long, Jacob Long, Katy Long; sisters: Verna McLean of Momence; IL; Fran (Bill) Courtney of Momence, IL. She was preceded in death by one sister, Janet. Friends may call at Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
