OBITUARY Billie Anne De Vries May 5, 1943 – September 24, 2018 Billie Anne De Vries, 75 of Ontario California, went home to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 24, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 5,1943 at 7:27 a.m., 6 lbs. 14 oz.

, in Artesia California, to Bill and Anne Idsinga. Grandma and Grandpa couldn’t decide on a name for Mom, so they put Bill & Anne together, and named her Billie Anne. Mom was a mama’s girl.

She was the oldest of 8 children and grew up on the family’s “Ice Cold Milk Dairy”. She went to kindergarten in 1948 at Clifton School, Artesia. 1st grade in 1950 at Luther Burbank School, and graduated from Artesia High School in 1961.

The family moved to Chino that year and Mom worked at Security Pacific Bank in Corona. We’ve always enjoyed this story told by dad…… Our Mom & Dad’s fathers both immigrated from Lollum, Friesland to America at different times, started their families and businesses and ended up in Chino. One day Grandpa DeVries told his family at dinner, that Bill and Anne Idsinga just moved their dairy to Chino.

Bill needed a milker. and said “ Pete, you better go see about that! ” so Dad did and got hired!

While milking the cows, he glanced at Mom, cleaning one of the houses and was smitten! That night he asked his dad, “ How many kids does Bill and Anne have? ”Grandpa replied, “A whole house full!

” She met her husband Pete De Vries on the back steps of Chino Christian Reformed Church after evening service. Dad asked her out to the Youth Hymn Sing, she said yes and that is when they fell in love. On January 18, 1964 Mom and Dad were married at Chino Valley Reformed Church and were blessed with 54years of marriage.

They had 5 children, Kenny, Kathy, Julie, Donnie and Ronnie. They were members of Chino Valley Reformed Church where they raised their family and were involved in various ministries. Mom was the Calvinette Leader in church, and also the Regional Leader for all of Southern California Calvinettes for 15 years.

Mom served the Lord faithfully with her beautiful gift of music, playing the piano and organ for church services, weddings, funerals and also in the community for over 40 years. Mom gave piano lessons to many students and became “Mother Hen” to them as Dad would say! She enjoyed her Piano Recitals and being a part of the Bell Choir.

Her favorite place was Huntington Beach where she took her family for years of fun and great memories that we will never forget. Mom loved to laugh, loved people, and her kitties. She always had a smile, positive outlook, bubbly, light hearted, quick to laugh, first to care, give a hug and tell you “it’s all going to be o.k.” She loved unconditionally and was the truest of a friend to all who knew her.

Our Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease and battled it for many years. Through all the struggles it brought, it never took away her spirit, her smile, and it did not, nor will it ever, define who our Mom was. Her greatest joy was her family.

She loved them dearly, each and every one of them, “More Than Tongue Can Tell”. Billie Anne was a loving and precious Mother to her son Ken De Vries and wife Sherrie of Hinkley, CA, daughter Kathy Vander Tuig and husband Dale of Tulare, CA, daughter Julie Vermeer and husband Derek of Caldwell, Idaho, son Donnie De Vries and wife Carey of Bliss, Idaho, and son Ronnie De Vries and wife Tammy of Bakersfield, CA. She was the most fun and loving “Mama” to 18 Grandchildren.

Jharod and Fallon Vander Tuig, Cory , Kyle, Jacob Vander Tuig, Daylene and Kyle Van Hulzen, Daniel and Josie De Vries, Jessica, Joshua De Vries, Ashley, D.J. Karyssa Vermeer, Brooklyn , Gage De Vries, Ronnie, Roxanne De Vries. And she was the best Ooor Beppa to 4 Precious Great Grandchildren, Ellie Ann, Gerrit, Ava Van Hulzen, and Mc Kenzie Anne Vander Tuig. Mom was loved beyond measure and will be so deeply missed by her family.

But we rejoice, for we know that she is now safe in the arms of Jesus and we will see her again someday! The family would especially like to thank Inland Christian Home for all their wonderful love and care that was given to our precious Mom. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness. Well done good and faithful servant! Visitation will be Sunday September 30, 2018, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Griffith Mortuary, Chino on Central Ave.
