Obituary for Billie C Tyler Billie C. Tyler passed in peace on December 15, 2018 in Boston, Massachusetts. Billie C. Tyler, affectionally known to all as “Mama” was born May 31, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Albert Henry Foster and Dorothy Foster. She came to Boston at a young age with her mother and four sisters.
She attended the Boston public school system and graduated from Girls High in Roxbury Ma. In 1965 Billie “Mama” worked two full time jobs to support her children. One as a phone operator for the New England Telephone company, also a booth operator for the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority.
She loved music and was quite a dancer. You could not tell her she couldn’t dance. If you challenged her, she would get up and prove you wrong.
Billie was tough on keeping her children in line, and any other child that she met. She raised her children with an iron fist, but still gave them her wit, strength, determination and words of wisdom that was never appreciated at times. She would tell you like it is and did not care about how you felt but would love you the same.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vance C. Tyler I, parents Albert Henry Foster and Dorothy Foster, three sisters Gwendolyn Foster, Carolyn Foster and Rosemary Smith. She is survived by her four children Vance C. Tyler II, Pamela, Darrell (Dia Roberts-Tyler) and Shawn; fourteen grandchildren, Sa’Tara, Rashod, Jashoda, Samani, Michaura, Joshua (Ey-Shawn), JoVonni, Daje, Daria, Shawn, Danae, Vance, Tyreke and Anthony; four great grandchildren, One sister Adorothy “Chink” Wilson, three sisters-in-laws, four brothers-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Billie “Mama” was a great woman and will be deeply missed by all of whom she touched.
