Obituary for Billie Frances Gunter Billie Frances Burkhalter Gunter passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Arlington, Texas at the age of 93. Billie will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Dallas on April 19, 2018 with her husband, John Alexander Gunter. John passed away peacefully at home in Arlington on September 22, 2016.

John and Billie met in Fort Worth, Texas and began courting. Their courtship was interrupted when John was drafted into the army during World War II. John carried a picture of Billie across Europe and continued to carry that same picture in his wallet his entire life.

Upon his return from the war, he and Billie married on April 12, 1947. They had two children, Sharon Ligon of Arlington, Texas and Mike Gunter of Marietta, South Carolina, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They moved to Arlington in 1954 and lived out their lives there.

They celebrated 69 years of marriage before John passed away in 2016. Together they loved to travel and spent many vacations on the road enjoying historical landmarks. Billie was a homemaker who was kind, generous and thoughtful and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

John was a building contractor who built many homes throughout Tarrant County and surrounding counties. John and Billie both loved their family, friends and neighbors and welcomed everyone into their home. They were always ready to lend a helping hand.
