OBITUARY Billy Joe Scott December 23, 1931 – December 27, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Billy (Bill) Joe Scott announces that he went to be with the Lord after a long illness, on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the age of 87 years. He was a current resident of Odessa, Texas and a prior resident of Kirby, Texas. Mr. Scott was born December 23, 1931, in Roscoe, Texas, the son of the late John Quincy Scott and Myrtle McClure.

He had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He was married to the late Charlotte Lee Scott in 1973. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a BA in Business following his 22- year career in the U.S. Army.

During his military career, he served in the Korean War and two terms in the Vietnam War. He retired from the military in Fort Ord, California on September 23, 1969 with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After his honorable discharge from the military and earning his BA from UTEP, he was employed with the United States Post Office and then several car dealerships until his retirement.

His hobbies consisted of working in the yard, running, cycling, and caring for his cats. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Carla Scott of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Evelyn Jenkins, of Del City, Oklahoma; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Leta Scott, of Odessa, Texas; and daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Bobby Allison, of Odessa, Texas; Step-children; Debbie of Lubbock, Texas; Carla, Joanna, Don of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Billy Joe Scott, Melinda Stockton, Kimberly Gallegos, Matthew Scott, Kyle Scott of Odessa, Texas; Harley Carlson of Lindsey, Oklahoma; Jesse Jenkins, Frank Jenkins of Del City, Oklahoma; Frieda Jenkins of Jacksonville, Florida; Laura Patillo of Austin, Texas; Morgan Clark of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Bobby Allison of Fort Worth, Texas; Brandon Allison of Saugus, Massachusetts; twenty seven great grandchildren;3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers Roland Scott, JC McClure; and sisters, Delores McClure, Julia McClure. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, John Quincy Scott, Myrtle McClure; wife, Charlotte Lee Scott; ex-wife, and mother of his children, Ingeborg Frieda Schrier; and brothers Wayne Scott; Dent Scott.

A public viewing will be held on January 7, 2018 at the Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, Texas 78148 from 5-9 pm. On January 8th, 2018, at 10:30 am, Billy Joe Scott will be laid to rest with military funeral honors at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
