Obituary of Billy Crawford Billy Jack Crawford, born June 18, 1929 of Tallahassee, Florida passed away October 3, 2018. Billy was born in Ft. Payne, AL.

He graduated from Jacksonville State University and received his MA and took additional course work from the University of Alabama. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, a National Sociology Honor Society, and the American Association for Counseling and Development. After serving in the US Army in Korea, Billy worked as a school psychologist in Mississippi and Florida before joining SRA, a subsidiary of IBM.

His work with SRA took him to Tallahassee, Raleigh, NC and Vero Beach, FL. In 1987 he and Angie retired to Tallahassee. Continuing his family’s believe in the importance of education, Billy was a lifelong learner and a voracious reader, particularly about psychology, current events and other interests.

He regularly read the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and other news magazines. Many evenings he and Angie could be found sitting by the fireplace reading a good book. Growing up on the farm in Alabama during the Depression held special memories for him, and he enjoyed reminiscing about those times.

Saturdays found Billy cheering for his favorite team, the University of Alabama. Billy was a member of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church in Tallahassee. He is survived by his son Edward “Larry” (Donna) Crawford of Tallahassee, his grandchildren Eric (Lynnea) Crawford of Orlando and Lydia Crawford of New Orleans, his sister-in-law Carolyn Crawford of Ft.

Payne and nephews David (DeAnne) Crawford of Atlanta and Marty (Penny) Crawford of Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his parents Horace and Ona Crawford, his beloved wife Edna Angeline “Angie” Crawford, and his brother David “Ray” Crawford. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Upper Sand Mountain Parish, a United Methodist Church cooperative serving under-red residents of Sand Mountain.

A family graveside service will be held October 6, 2018 at 2:00pm at Antioch Baptist Church in Fyffe, AL.
