Zablocki, age 96, a resident of Chesterfield Township, Michigan passed Monday, April 29, 2019 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Twp. , MI. She was born on February 9, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Thomas and Mae (Pitts) Merritt.

On December 9, 1950 in the City of East Detroit, MI she was united in marriage to Eugene Zablocki. Together they shared nearly 40 years of marriage before he passed on September 20, 1990. Blanche had previously worked as a bank teller for over 25 years at First State Bank in East Detroit until her retirement in the mid 1980’s.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Mt. Clemens where she assisted with financial recordkeeping for many years. As a younger woman, Blanche enjoyed gardening, tending to her yard, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She could often be found reading her bible, doing crossword puzzles, rooting on the Detroit Tigers, or captivated with a good mystery novel. She is survived by her son Donald (Wendy) Zablocki, grandchildren Nicholas and Meagan, and sister Joan Nill. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by six siblings; sisters Lillian Hayes, Marg Simon, and Jenny Powell, and brothers Tom, George, and Owen Merritt.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 2:00p.m. in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mount Clemens, MI with the Rev. Steven Steinberger-Domienik, Pastor of Grace Episcopal Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12 Noon until the time of service.
