Obituary for Bob Schmidt Robert M. Schmidt, age 57, peacefully passed away on November 6, 2018, surrounded by his entire family after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born in Cleveland, OH, on September 26, 1961. Bob was a valued employee at AEXCEL Corp in Mentor, for over 35 years of his life.

He also was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 678 for many years. In addition to being a lifelong Nascar fan, Bob was an avid fan of baseball and football, including all Cleveland Sports and Ohio State. Bob shared a love for music unlike many and passed it onto his son whom he attended over 100 concerts with.

His sense of humor, and love for his family and friends are going to be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Joan Schmidt (nee Mueller) of 29 years; his son, Cody Robert Schmidt; his siblings, Laura (Jeff) Piechowiak, Susan (Mike) Wallace, and Michelle (John) Brownlee; his Godmother, Clara Mae Hawley; many nieces and nephews; the Chamberlains; his beloved dogs Booger and Peanut; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Morell Robert Schmidt and Frances Elizabeth Schmidt, and his step-father Mike Podboy.

Visitation for Bob will be held from 3 – 7 PM on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Monreal Funeral Home 35400 Curtis Blvd. , Eastlake. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7 PM at the funeral home.
