Obituary of Bonaventura “Bonnie” Scala Bonaventura Scala (nee Reilly), of Brick, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 21, 2019 in Delray Beach, FL. She was 75. Bonnie was born in Jersey City on December 3, 1943, the eldest daughter of Charles J and Mary F. (nee McLaughlin) Reilly.
Bonnie attended Mt. Saint Dominick’s Academy in Caldwell, NJ before moving to California and graduating from La Jolla High School in 1961. After high school, she moved back to NJ and completed her college degrees.
Bonnie moved to Brick, in 1977, where she became a well-known and well-respected real estate agent. Bonnie was truly an angel on earth. She brought love, friendship, happiness and truth to everyone she knew – everyone.
If you met her for the first time, you would find yourself sharing your life story with her because of the comfort, trust and sincerity you felt. Most important were her friends, from Lake Riviera, NJ to Tropic Bay, Delray Beach, FL and of course in between and West—-If you look into the heavens you will see her-she is one of God’s brightest stars. Surviving her are her brothers and sister, Rev.
James J. Reilly of Rutherford, Kitty Reilly (Penny Hess) of St. Louis, Charles Reilly (Scott Amerine) of Denver, and Denis Reilly of Bayonne. Also surviving her are her son, Charles John Ribaudo (Christine Ribaudo) of Morris Plains, and her daughter, Bonnie Ribaudo (Jason Linam) of Sea Girt, who is grateful for every minute and lesson she taught her. Bonnie is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Daniel Charles Ribaudo and Charlotte Nicole Ribaudo of Morris Plains and her loving niece Emerald Reilly Lindskog (Brian Lindskog) of Campbell, CA.
She is survived by her long-time companion, Paul Amelchenko of Brick, his children Tara Amelchenko of Asbury Park, and Paul Amelchenko of Lighthouse Point, FL, and grandchildren, Zachary and Brady Amelchenko, as well as her step-grandson, Anthony Galante of Daytona Beach, FL. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Scala, her step granddaughter, Dina Galante, and her youngest sister, Elizabeth Reilly. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, March 1 at Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.
At 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 2, a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Church of the Visitation, Brick, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. Services will also be held on March 16th, 11am at Ascension Church in Boca Raton, FL.
