Obituary for Bonnie Jones Kerst Bonnie Roberta (Jones) Kerst, age 80, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018, after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer, having already survived breast cancer nine years ago. She died at Kobacker House in Columbus surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 26, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio and adopted in July of 1947 by Frances and Clair Jones, now deceased, of Columbus.

She is survived by her husband, David of 56 years; daughter, Karin Rezes; granddaughters, Marissa and Jenna (fiancé, Lucas Abraham) Rezes; son, Douglas, his wife, Lynn and their children, Keri (Josh) McCrabb and Garth Hand of Wisconsin. She is preceded in death by older brother, James Moore. Also survived by sister, Myrna Kemmer in Florida; brother, Robert (Joyce) Riegler in Ranier, Washington; half-sister, Evelyn (John) Robertson in Arizona; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She graduated from Columbus North High School in 1955 and spent one year at OSU. She was a full-time wife, mother, grandmother, cook, “handy-man,” and whip-cracker to the family. She was frequently known as the “Cheesecake Lady” by friends, neighbors, and family who enjoyed the hundreds of cheesecakes she baked and delivered over the years.

She enjoyed traveling- Alaska, Panama Canal, Europe, UK, Canada, Hawaii, Caribbean, baseball spring training, and Las Vegas- (she never met a slot machine she didn’t like). Her favorite park is Zion National Park in southern Utah where the immediate family will gather soon to celebrate her life. She was a long-time member of North Broadway Methodist Church.

Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 E. North Broadway, Columbus, OH 43214, where the family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Rev. Wendy Hansen-Smith officiating. Private family inurnment.
