OBITUARY Brenda Weeks Parker July 5, 1935 – February 3, 2019 Brenda Weeks Parker was born July 5, 1935 and passed away on February 3, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Parker, her son Keith Parker and her parents Raymond and Jennie Dee (Robinson) Weeks. Brenda graduated from Ramsay High School and went on to attain her Bachelor’s Degree from Birmingham-Southern and her Master’s Degree from UAB.

Brenda was passionate about her work teaching special education in the Birmingham City Schools System. In addition to her work, she was a talented artist who sold many of her paintings throughout Birmingham and an ardent AIDS activist. She loved to travel, but had a special place in her heart for the beach.

Aside from her painting and traveling, Brenda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends most of all. She had a vivacious personality and always made the people around her laugh. She was much loved by her family, her young students, and her many friends.

A longtime member of Saint Mark UMC, faith played a pivotal role in Brenda’s life. She was very active in the church and especially enjoyed the friendships forged in the Aldersgate Sunday School Class. Survivors include her sons, Brian Parker and wife Linda, Scott Parker and wife Linda, and Kirk Parker and wife Julie; and her beloved grandchildren – Christopher, Katelyn, Michael, Rachel, Ashlyn, and McKenley.

Services will be held at Saint Mark UMC on Friday, February 8th at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Saint Mark UMC Endowment Fund.
