Brett Michael “Lil Crack” Altazan September 21, 1959 – February 01, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Brett passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 5:37 pm, at Legacy (formerly Plaquemine Caring) Nursing Home in Plaquemine at the age of 59. He was a native and longtime resident of Port Allen. He was a current resident of Plaquemine.

Brett was a former tug boat captain on the Mississippi River for 20 years. Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Tuesday, February 5th, from 5 to 9 p.m. Visiting will resume on Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm, celebrated by Rev. Todd Lloyd.

Burial will follow in Chenal Cemetery in Jarreau. Brett is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brandi Altazan and Jamie Jordan; 2 sons, Brett Jr. and Cane; 3 step children, Jason, Krystal and Cody; 2 grandsons, Michael Dale and Drew; mother, Lucille Gautreaux Altazan; sisters, Lizette “Beetsa” Hebert, Wanda Van Norden and Bobbie Lee Aguillard; brothers, Darryl, Norman and Glynn Altazan; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Major, Gwendolyn Perault and Jackie Stuard; nieces, Shantelle, Angie, Norah, Diane – Marie, Destiny, Jessica and Jamie; nephews, Michael, Darren, Hunter, Levi and Joshua; extended family, Jeralyn and George, Ru, Ric, Kat, Vou, Joe, Gut and Lisa, along with the staff and residents at Legacy Nursing Home and Comfort Care Hospice in Plaquemine. Brett was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Delapasse; granddaughter, Skyla Faith Jordan; father, Elward “Crack” Altazan Sr.; brother, Elward “Bro” Altazan Jr.; nephew, Derek Altazan; sister-in-law, Diane McGee; brothers-in-law, Michael Van Norden and Kenny Barbier; friend, Bernadette Hector.

Pallbearers will be Darryl, Glynn and Michael Altazan, James Blanchard, Larry Barbier and Ronnie Harding. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Altazan, Michael Dale Blackard, Drew Jordan and Troy Latiolais. The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone that assisted in Brett’s care for the 19 years.

When you come to celebrate Brett’s life, dress as he would, dress in your best – blue shirts for the day, blue jeans is the only way and as Brett would say, “Thank you Jesus and Blessed be to God”.
