Obituary for Bynum William Mauney Bynum William Mauney, 87, of Spartanburg, SC died Friday, September 28, 2018 in Spartanburg Medical Center. Born April 4, 1931 in Shelby, NC, he was the son of the late Charles Winslow and Fannie Deadmon Mauney. Mr. Mauney was an U. S. Air Force Korean War Veteran (Retired), whom also retired from Terry Sanford High School of Fayetteville, NC, where he was the Air Force ROTC Instructor.

Bynum was a retired Baptist Minister and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Lona McConnell Mauney of the home; children, Michael H. Mauney of Spartanburg, Karen (Eddie) Garrett of Spartanburg, and Charles (Dianne) Mauney of Inman; grandchildren, Charles D. Mauney, Eric (Nicole) Cochran, Will Garrett, Chris Mauney, David (Cassandra) Mauney; great grandchildren, Mason Garrett, Lilly Cochran and Abby Cochran; sister, Edith Mauney Lawson of Bostic, NC; along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is also predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:45 PM Monday, October 1, 2018 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM at the chapel, with full military rites administered by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, conducted by The Rev. Brandon Grigg, Mr. Jim Waugerman and Mr. Gary Williams.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, Church Base Mission Trips, 1850 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
