Obituary for Calvin Wolf Calvin Wolf, long-time Washingtonian and retired West Chester banker died November 30, 2018. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke officiating. A visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church Monday morning where a myriad of showtunes will be played to honor his musicality and the family will be present to greet friends and family.

Interment with military honors will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the following: The Washington Public Library, The Washington Community Theater or the United Presbyterian Church. jonesfh.com. Cal was born February 24, 1920 in Lytton, Iowa to Alvin and Beulah Wolf. Upon graduation from the Lytton Consolidated School District he departed for Iowa State College Ames, Iowa majoring in Industrial Economics.

Admittedly he was homesick and hitchhiked home almost every weekend but he still managed to graduate whereupon he accepted a job in the scheduling department of North American Aviation in Kansas City where the B25 Bombers were built. In 1944 he became a communication officer in the U. S. Navy. He graduated from the Harvard University Training School.

He shipped out to Hollandia, New Guinea and then was assigned to the Task Force in the Leyte Gulf as a cryptographic and personnel officer. Toward the end of the war he was moved to Navy Headquarters in Manilla. During most of his adult life he operated the West Chester Savings Bank where he never met a stranger and answered the phone with a resounding “Bank!

” Cal, along with his wife Margaret, was a community volunteer extraordinaire. Here are some of his accomplishments: member United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, Deacon and Choir Director, the YMCA, Masonic Lodge #26, charter member of West Chester Lion’s Club, the Building Committee of the Washington Community Center, K.P. Lodge, Y’s Men Club, Washington Concert Association. He was a cheerful and robust participant in a plethora of musicals and plays where his soaring tenor voice carried across the stage.

He and Margaret hosted too many theater afterparties to count. He is survived by his daughter Jean Wolf Logan, her husband Tom Logan and their children Abigail Logan and Grant Logan, all residing in Des Moines, Iowa; and Son John Wolf of Bellevue, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Margaret McCall Wolf and his two sisters: Wilma Butler and Donna Zeller.

Cal could be described as following: friendly, likeable, sincere, outgoing, outspoken, witty, impulsive and funny. He encompassed all of those adjectives and more. He was a joyful man.
