Obituary for Carl J. Magnetta Jr. Carl J. Magnetta, Jr. “Mag” Age 79, of Tarentum, went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2018, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Born in New Kensington on November 16, 1938 to the late Mildred (Thimons) and Carl J. Magnetta, Sr He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Barbara (Staricek) Magnetta; proud father of, Carl “Butch” (Kelly) Magnetta, Carla (Jeff) Adams and Carrie (Hugh) Fox; leaves behind his grandchildren, Carlee (Calvin) Carter, Edward (Marina) Kelly, Shanna Kelly, Joshua (Jen) Fox and Jeremy Fox; also great-grandchildren; Eli, Alaina, and Aleah Kelly; Chloe, Rylie, Lilly, and Joshua Fox; Baby “Carter” and sister, Jane (John) McClelland.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Magnetta. Carl served 30 years as Mayor, President of Council, Councilman at large, and Councilman in Tarentum. Carl’s love for Tarentum will live on forever.

He was a 60 year life member of Summit Hose Fire Company and member of First Catholic Slovak Union. Throughout his lifetime Carl was very active in many organizations. He worked 24 years for the Valley News Dispatch, and also Joans Kiln Korner.

He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, he loved to read any and all newspapers, loved cooking and was famous for his sauerkraut and dumplings, and enjoyed family vacations to the beach. Carl was the rock of his family. His love and devotion will be missed by them all.

Family and friends to be received at Holy Martyrs Parish, 344 W. 9th Avenue, Tarentum, PA 15084 on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 9am until the time of Mass at 11am. Burial is to remain private. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Carl J. Magnetta Jr. please visit our Sympathy Store.
