Obituary for Carl W. Lindbeck Carl Woodrow Lindbeck passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family two days after his 72nd birthday, on Saturday, May 19, 2018 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born in Stambaugh, Michigan May 17, 1946 to Spencer and Carolyn Lindbeck. He married Georgene Peruzzi on December 27, 1969 after returning from serving our country in the Vietnam War.
Carl was a member of the 101st Airborne’s “Screaming Eagles” from 1967 to 1969. During his tour in Vietnam he fought in the battle of Hamburger Hill. He was a decorated veteran earning the Purple Heart, two bronze stars, the air medal, and the Order of the Silver Rose, which recognizes veterans exposed to Agent Orange.
He was a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. Upon returning from Vietnam, he finished his business degree at UWGB. Shortly after, he started his career with the American Red Cross as the Administrator of the Badger Regional Blood Center in Green Bay where he worked for over 30 years.
One of his big passions was designing and building hot rods. Several of his creations were featured in national car magazines. Carl could usually be found working at his shop or cruising to car shows.
He loved the ‘Back to the 50’s’ in Minnesota where he could eat his fill of pork chops on a stick, or setting up at the Hot Rod Nationals in Louisville. He made sure he made both of those shows last summer. His greatest passions, however, were his family and friends.
His infectious smile and witty and clever sense of humor echoed his generous spirit and big heart. The little things in life gave him the greatest pleasure. He loved his children Nathan & Kristin more than anything in the world.
He was beyond proud of them and the adults they came to be. They cherished the time they had with him. He is survived by his wife, Georgene, his son, Nathan, Ledgeview; daughter, Kristin (Matt Reynolds), Brooklyn, NY; brother Richard (Suzette), West Bend; cousins, Jim (Amy) Lindbeck and Karin (Denis) Roff; brother and sister-in-law, Tracy and Mike McCrumb, Waunakee; nieces and nephews, Keith (Bonnie) Lindbeck, David (Michelle) McCrumb, Megan McCrumb, Ryan McCrumb, Molly (Tom) Sorensen and son TJ.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Carolyn and father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Joyce Peruzzi. In the words of Rascal Flatts, “Life is a highway. I want to ride it all night long”.
Carl did, and he enjoyed that ride. Family and friends may attend a memorial visitation at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave. , De Pere, on Thursday, May 24, 2018 after 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
Military Honors will be accorded immediately following. Online condolences may be sent to www. cotterfuneralhome.com.
Carl’s family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff of Aurora Bay Care Medical Center for the care given to him during his illness.
