Carla Dee Howland (Bruin) Yukes – 1960-2019, age 58 passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at her home in West Jordan, UT on January 30, 2019 the day before she was to celebrate her 59th birthday. She was born January 31, 1960 in Salt Lake City, UT to Lawrence Kay and Maxine Glover Howland. Carla had 5 beautiful children with her first husband Kent Bruin.

She later remarried in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple on January 27th, 2018 to Robert Yukes. She had a pleasant and memorable childhood and made friendships that have lasted over her lifetime. Carla attended Murray High School and graduated in 1978.

She loved and was deeply loved by her family and community. She served in many capacities including serving as PTA president at her children’s school for many years. Carla was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

This was something she dedicated her life to and no matter the illness or trials that were in her way, she made sure to attend each and every Sunday. She loved being Grandma CarCar and loved spending time with her Grandchildren and they absolutely adore her. They fondly remember that she would always bring them little treats when she would visit.

Some of Carla’s favorite things are listening to church music, reading, sewing, cooking and in her younger years loved going to the lake with her brothers and sisters. Carla was preceded in death by her Mother Maxine and Granddaughter Kaylee. She is survived by her Husband, Bob Yukes; Father, Lawrence Kay; Siblings: Stephen (Debi), Gary (Amy), Kay (Rebecca), Dana (Tamaree), Pam (Rod, Deceased) Lori (Steve), Ellouise and Laurie (Randy); Children: Nathan (Jennifer) Bruin, Ashlee (Casey) Andersen, Bryan (Lindsay) Bruin, Brandon (Brittnie) Bruin, Tayler Bruin; Grandchildren: Makayla, Aurelia, Tysen, Logan, Alia, Jett, Shaylee, Luke, Claira and Lincoln; Stepchildren, Jolene Yukes, Jamie Yukes and Kimberly Eccles; as well as dozens of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray South Stake Center in Murray, UT. 5735 Fashion Blvd. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. An evening viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St. Murray, Utah, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019.
